Dean Skira’s presentation will describe the challenges, opportunities and expectations that were an integral part of designing the interior and exteriorlighting for the DNA-shaped Evolution Tower in Moscow. Maximum use of daylight was a key principle, the different inclination of the windows resulting in a unique shading concept and system – all leading to a series of user-friendly comfortable work environments.

Dean Skira is the founder of Skira, an award-winning architectural lighting design practice based in Pula, Croatia with projects worldwide. For the past 30 years, Dean has been building and creating mostly with intangible forms. In 1986, he relocated to the United States to study lighting design and interior design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, NY. In 1990, he established his first lighting design practice in the United States before returning to Croatia in 1995.
Dean is a published author and a frequent guest lecturer. For his notable projects such as the Eurasia Tunnel, Hendrix Bridge, Cikat Bay and Lighting Giants, Skira received international awards as a lighting designer, as a product designer of the luminaires Polesano, Trick and Lun-up, and as an investor for his office building the House of Light. He is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), the IES Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), the Croatian Designers Society (HDD), the Croatian Lighting Association (HDR), and was also a member of the Professional Lighting Designers’ Association (PLDA).
