Daria Casciani has specialised in lighting design, gaining a doctorate in 2014 with research on the social experience of urban lighting. She has spent a semester at the Intelligent Lighting Institute of the Eindhoven University of Technology, where she developed and tested a process of analysis, design and evaluation of the relationship between light, city and people based on a series of experiences of urban-based socially oriented lighting.
In 2014, she started teaching Lighting Design for Hospitality in the Master in Lighting Design & LED Technology programme at the Politecnico di Milano, and in 2015 she was appointed as an adjunct professor at the School of Design of the Politecnico di Milano for the Interior Design Courses.
She currently develops design and research projects in the Laboratorio Luce at the Department of Design of the Politecnico di Milano. Working on the new perspectives of the design of LED lighting systems, her main research topics are the social influence of light and the rapid prototyping of LED-based lighting fixtures. Since 2011, Daria has participated in more than 15 international peer-reviewed conferences and has written more than 30 scientific papers about her studies.
