Who organises PLDC?

PLDC is organized by VIA-Verlag, the publishing house of the Professional Lighting Design magazine, PLD. The VIA Educational Events Division was created in 2007. The events team organizes different educational events including seminars, master classes, conferences, evening get-togethers for professionals, workshops, and the Professional Lighting Design Convention, PLDC. VIA provides a series of platforms for high-quality information, education and debate and exchange on all aspects of light, lighting technology and lighting design in architecture.

Who can attend?

PLDC is targeted at lighting designers, architects, interior designers, students, researchers (including the medical community), manufacturers, city planners, and private and public clients. Generally, the event invites all lighting design enthusiasts, supporters and specialists to attend and be part of the development of the lighting design market – through the exchange of knowledge and networking.

How and when can I register for PLDC?

You can register using an online form. Registration for PLDC 2019 will open in early 2019.

Which ticket rate should I choose?

If you are a member of one of our Partner Associations, have attended one of our Partner Events or are a staff member of one of our Partner Cities, please select “Partner” and the number of days you would like to attend.

If you are working for a lighting manufacturer, that is not a Sponsoring Partner to PLDC, please select “Industry” and the number of days you would like to attend.

If you are a student or PhD candidate with a valid student ID, please select “I am a student” and the number of days you would like to attend. Please do not forget to upload a scan of your valid student ID.

If you are neither of the above, please select “Regular” and the number of days you would like to attend.

Group registration

Groups of at least ten people receive a further reduction of 10% on the overall invoice, provided that payment is settled on one invoice.

Cancellation Policy

Your registration is binding. Cancellation is possible in the case of illness or due to circumstances beyond the registree’s control. In the latter case 75% of the registration fee can be refunded up to one month before the conference. After the cancellation period no refund can be granted. Cancellations must be made in writing and accompanied by a doctor’s certificate, if applicable.

How were the papers selected?

Each paper submission is read and evaluated anonymously by three members of the Paper Reviewing Committee. The submissions are evaluated on the general quality and professionalism of the proposed paper, the suitability of the proposed paper to its declared track, the innovative character of the proposed paper’s contents and the absolute importance the jury ascribes to the topic of the proposed paper. Based on the evaluation points awarded by the Paper Reviewing Committee, the Steering Committee of PLDC selects the final papers for presentation.

Does VIA award certificates of attendance?

VIA provides certificates of attendance after the conference. Please contact Ms. Franziska Ritter at fritter@via-internet.com if you require a certificate.

How can I sponsor / exhibit at the event in 2019?

How can I attend the Gala Dinner?

Gala Dinner seats or tables are available by invitation only from one of our sponsoring partners. If you wish to apply for a sponsored dinner seat, please send an e-mail to Ms. Franziska Ritter at fritter@via-internet.com. Please note that the organisation team cannot guarantee a sponsored seat.

How can I be short-listed for the PLD Recognition Award?

Compared to similar awards, there is no Call for Entries for the PLD Recognition Award. A Call for Nominations will be released, offering the lighting design community the opportunity to nominate peers and partners in a total of seven categories.

How can my association / university / event become an official partner?

VIA accepts lighting and lighting related associations and universities offering lighting courses and courses in related professions as official partners of the convention. Partnerships are based on mutual benefits and are not related to financial support. Can I get support for a visa application?

Attendees who require visa application support should contact Ms. Franziska Ritter at fritter@via-internet.com for assistance.

Are there any accompanying events?

The conference and manufacturers’ exhibition is accompanied by different evening events. Detailed information will be available soon.
