Award for Research

Definition:

The intent is to recognise the individual / institution that has made a significant impact on the field of Architectural Lighting Design either through his/her/its general research programme or through a specific research topic.

Dr. Niko Gentile: For his sustained and ongoing research in the field of daylighting. His expertise lies primarily in the visual and non-visual effects of daylighting and electric lighting. Niko Gentile is Associate Senior Lecturer in the Department of Energy and the Built Environment at Lund University/SE.

Dr. Alexander Wunsch: For his research on Photoendocrinology – how natural and artificial light impacts the human’s endocrine system and hormones, and for his clear and well-structured communication on the topic for all generations of lighting designers.

Dr. Taylor Stone: For his postdoctoral research at TU Delft/NL into the value of darkness and environmental ethics, showing a new perspective and applying interactive methodology to secure strategies for responsible urban lighting using new and emerging technologies.

Dr. Jaimin Patel and Leora Radetsky: For their research into the application of visible and ultraviolet (UV) light to counteract powdery mildew and downy mildew – two of the most common diseases in greenhouses.
