The Avenues, Kuwait: lighting a retail city
Presentation date: 24. October
Presentation time: 17:45
The Avenues Mall is the largest shopping mall in Kuwait and the second largest mall in the Middle East. The mall opened in April 2007, under the patronage of the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah and has been expanding phase by phase over the last 12 years. Gensler, the architects for the project, had a vision for the Avenues that was inspired by the great cities of the world. The Mall is therefore designed as a cityscape, with a network of streets and plazas. The master plan detailed a mall with different districts, each with a distinct style. The lighting design followed suit and supported the various styles but also contained individuality for specific areas and features.
