Partner University HAWK Hildesheim

University of Applied Science and Art

We are happy to announce that the University of Applied Science and Art in Hildesheim has accepted to be a Partner University of PLDC 2019.

Paul Schmits: „Right from its start in London 2007 the PLDC was a unique and truly international forum for the lighting design community defining the state of the art technology and approach. Above and beyond that, it has always been a meeting point for young professionals and students.

The lighting design department within the Faculty of Design at the University of Applied Science and Art HAWK Hildesheim is pleased and grateful for the opportunity to be a partner of the PLDC 2019 in Rotterdam: A great occasion for the staff to update their knowledge and a perfect place for learning and networking for our students.“

With its large spectrum of nine competence fields, which complement and are also linked with one another, the artistic-scientific Bachelor programme in Design at the University of applied Science and Art in Hildesheim forms an interdisciplinary study programme that is unique in its diversity and with its very well equipped workshops. The fields of competence are: Advertising Design, Corporate Identity/Corporate Design, Color Design, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Interior Design/Interior Architecture, Lighting Design, Metal Design and Product Design.

Some of these competencies, such as color design and lighting design, are not offered in this form for a second time in Germany and are an important unique proposition.

The six-semester Bachelor study programme makes it possible for students to either specialise in one particular field in the traditional way or to combine a number of different fields in a completely new way. The study course plans for the individual fields of competence are by no means mandatory, but have rather been designed to serve as a guideline for the students. This allows students to collaborate on an interdisciplinary basis and to pursue their own individual interests, which can, in turn, lead to completely new combinations of the areas of competence and have an innovative effect on the course contents.
