The internationally renowned Technische Universität Berlin is located in Germany’s capital city at the heart of Europe.

With around 32 000 students, circa 100 course offerings and 40 Institutes, the historic Technische Universität Berlin is one of Germany’s largest and most internationally renowned technical universities.

Internationalization is a basic principle of all scientific activities. International students from more than 130 countries make up about 20 percent of the student body.

The range of services offered by our seven Faculties serves to forge a unique link between the natural and technical sciences on the one hand, and the planning, economics and social sciences and humanities on the other. TU Berlin is the only university in the capital region offering engineering subjects. The chair of lighting technology at the TU Berlin is part of the Institute for Energy and Automation Technology at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

As the world’s first chair of lighting technology it looks back on a long tradition. In addition to several lectures related to lighting technology, the Chair of Lighting Technology also teaches Basic principles of electrical engineering. Various applied research projects are carried out, partly in close collaboration with internationally renowned industry, successfully enriching the scientific work. Important research fields are outdoor lighting, indoor lighting and daylight.
